It seems Mothers Day gets more popular each year. The concept can't be messed
with. It's you and your Mom. Either call her or at a minimum think about
her. I think about my Mom all the time. She's in her late 80's and walks
with a cane. She misses her house and garden. She can make soup out of anything
laying around a kitchen. She knows my favorite home cooked meal is leg of
lamb, mashed potatoes and carrots with Poppy Seed cake for dessert. It gets
me happy and sad to think of her. She is an honest lady of the depression
era. It was a good week. Willy Vlautin did a book signing for Northline at the Tattered Cover on thursday evening. You can buy a copy at the Tattered Cover or the Boulder Bookstore. After a few cocktails at a local bar Jeff, Willy and I slowly drove west on Colfax to my house. We talked a bit and sipped some old whiskey I found in my Mother's house when I cleaned it out before she moved. Willy's musical persona may emit dismal tales, but his outlook of the present is mostly positive. After he left I felt all high on any tidbit of positive I could find. Sort of no matter what's going on there's something to look to for a lift and all you got to do is figure out what that is. Simple. The graduates have hatched and left the Republic to spend a comfortable time at home before heading off to new jobs or adventures in foreign lands. 21 and so much more. R.I.P. Eddy Arnold. See you next week. Check the Denver/Boulder concert scene. |
