Notes: |
The crazy Thanksgiving pattern is over. The rearview mirror cellphone lipped
mini-vans are safely behind the picket fence. I am rusting in the Pecos
switchyard sun enjoying the creosote. Swirling pigeons precede locomotives
building lines of freight. The vending machine generation waits for product.
Let a quarter drop and press your button... DISFUNCTION, LOVE, SIN, TRUTH,
THE GREAT SPIRIT, FEVER, JESUS, LIBATION, DREAMS, TIME, MONEY and coffee/cream/sugar.
I press COFFEE, but the cup doesn't drop and the hot water goes down the
drain. I sober up waiting for a coal freight to go by. It got within a quarter
mile and stopped on the track just before the switch... didn't go any farther.
The crossroad of the future or rotting decay? It came to me in the middle
of the night. It keeps me in a duotone still life listening to absurd things
plotting my change-order. Throw switch. Move forward. Today's hot trak is, "Martha, Our Son's Insane" by Cary Swinney. Thanks to DJ Vagabond Danny for covering last week's show. Iron And Wine December 8th at the Paramount Theatre. |
