Late nite mute TV, caffeine and D F chord variations trigger anxious sleep
under a lite I am unable to turn off. Of course my alarm was not set. Mulled
over sleeping till whenever but in a few minutes pulled my legs over the
bedside and stared at the wall, more broken than operative. Not all Sundays
are sweet. A quick shower, cup of oatmeal and coffee set up today's awareness
as I pull the shade to see a light northern snow drive by my window. I pull
the car out and head north to the Republic. Uncle Jeff dubs the show's onset as, "A standard set of stuff." Each one a first play... hardly just typical stuff. I stumble along gathering info. I grab up "Death Song For The Living" to read the latest Jay Farrar CD cover. Before long Jeff snatched it out of my hand and Ukulele Loki cues up trak 3. Then I got comfy with an old style 70s Brinsley Schwarz LP cover till "Cowboys To Girls" beamed out like the Republic's western soul. Trapped in a music library for 2 hours a week makes it tough to realize reality. Turned out a better Sunday than it began. Lots of new tunes and the finale, "A Message Of Avarice Rained Down and Carried Us Away Into False Dreams Of Endless Riches" beckoned us to go for green chile soup at the Rio Grande. Back at my office finishing notes as the amp warms up. In a bit will post this dispatch and settle in to D F chord mutations till my eyes are heavy. There's a reality out there, but today I wasn't in it. Gob Iron will perform December 6 at the Fox Theatre in Boulder, Colorado. Stay tuned. |
