Hey Doc, thanks for the 10-43. Today's initial set churned from within. Five picturesque tunes revealed the prevailing sentiment through Blues, lyrics and a smart instrumental. In a calm cryptic way Ukulele Loki summed it up, "Ahh, some lovely music. Sounds like accordions in the morning. Is that blasphemy on the Sabbath Doc?" No answer, but obvious underlying thoughts were tugging at Doc and Loki's brains. Jokes came out but the laughing sounded painful. The rambling continued... the show goes on. It came to my mind that I could of easily been sitting on an old wooden stool, leaning on a musty bar ordering another round of 8 a.m. cocktails for my good buddies. A dark room long bar early morning bad luck story. The neon lights in a real honky tonk never go dark and all three of us know why. Turn your radio on. Dream through the lyrics. Tap your feet to the beat. When the clinker plays it's ok to cut it down and laugh. And while you're walking the side of the road into a rising sun those honky tonk memories will keep the feet moving on. A roadside shade tree invites you to set down your canvas duffle and reminds you of hopeless love. You can't live that fast anymore. Get in touch. Turn your radio on. Doc Martin advises, "Get to the Swing Station in La Porte. Just past the hardware store, liquor stop and feed shop. Smoking allowed on the porch." The gem of the morning, "I'm A Truck" by Red Simpson. Post show twist. Walk up Broadway through the tunnel... sharp right and continue 2 shops past the first stop-n-go to Kim Food To Go "pick your scoop" buffet. Get it to go and sit on the bus stop bench. Slurp noodles with chicken and green beans. Drink lemon water from a Styrofoam cup, converse, ponder, yell and stare. Pick up your canvas duffle and move on. This episode deserves a download. Check back soon for the mp3. Adios till next week. Get 10 code info. |
