Blitzkrieg musical conversation fueled by sleep deprivation and caffeine
continued throughout this show. Keen culture notations bounced and fell
into place as the traks played. Ukulele Loki fought the yawns and Doc Martin
recognized any crisis, then pulled a prescription out of his black bag.
It was an old time house call. The playlist featured several "first time" artists for Route 78 West including Moon Mullican, Bunks Band, Jonathan Byerley, Blueground Undergrass and the Tarnations. This morning's genre spanned Country, Jazz, Blues, Surf and Alt-Country including short behind the scene artist factoids. Standout traks; Jole Blon, Easy Money and For Lovers Only. Ukulele Loki dedicated the Surf Set to Uncle Jeff who was out on a river somewhere enjoying an introduction to retirement. Man, that's weird to say! My first cohort to pack it all in for relaxation and reflection. Country A Go-Go was the standout in Surf today. If you enjoy your country music blended into a frothy cocktail then this show hit the spot. The intoxication trophy belongs to the 11:21 set; Red Cloud, Jonathan Byerley, Jay Munly, 16 Horsepower, and Slim Cessna's Auto Club, all local artists. Get out and support Colorado's local music. Thanks for Doc Martin's liberated music from the memory hole. Doc can usually be heard fighting the good battle against corporate radio the 4th Saturday of each month from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on KGNU's Honky Tonk Heros. Catch Ukulele Loki's band next weekend at Benders. Due to whatever drives the thinking process the show mp3s require a 2 file download. No Doubt something to do with that retirement thing. Stay tuned each Sunday... same time, same frequency. |
