Notes:

Uncle Jeff began the show with, "So, how ya doing? " One word... hot," said Ukulele Loki. I shook my head in agreement. We threw around recommendations of how to beat the heat but Uncle Jeff had a simple tip, "I let my horse do the walking." All I could come up with was running the fan 24/7 while balancing an ice cube on my forehead.

I enjoyed the progression of tonight's show. The first two sets gave you an idea of what music was like way back in the early 1900's. Just at the right time a twist of Leon Redbone formed a modern-day bridge. "Into Each Life Some Rain Must Fall" by The Ink Spots had me dead center on that bridge and the Byrds', "You Ain't Going Nowhere" welcomed me to the other side. The contrast, brightness and volume was perfect. Classic Byrds, Kinks and Neil Young welded to a shiny new Son Volt. Uncle Jeff would just comment with, "AHHHhhhhhhhh."

Ukulele Loki banged the drum for more old style while the Bearded Old Miner insisted, "...
we don't play enough NY." Later on mumbings of, "...surf takes us to country and beyond," gave Ukulele Loki an idea... "More Hoagy next week to balance things out." I did my best to keep the music heads separated by staring in amazement at old NY 45's and reading a Man or Astroman CD cover. Yeah, Man or Astroman... "the king of samples."

As the show wound down I vaguely heard, "Tubers are not related to surfers. Tubing is a serious sport." I couldn't respond cause the big ole injection of NY had me just where I wanted to be.

Post show. Light rain. Gin-n-tonics. Burgers. At Tom's Tavern. Thanks Dee. See ya next week.

Late Breaking News: The new Cabaret Diosa CD release of "Apocalypso" will happen at the Fox this Saturday. Ukulele Loki plays soprano uke on the album and will sit in with the band on that song during the show. That is all.
