Notes: | Uncle
Jeff was on the board as Ukulele Loki entered the studio. Quickly Jeff laid
out the rules for the show, "No republicans and there's got to be steel
in the song." Yep, it's an election year and music is required to keep
everyone in a calm demeanor. Faint memories of Gram Parsons' long ago death prompted the song "Sin City" sweetly done by Gillian Welch and Steve Earle. It's worth mentioning that you can listen to Steve Earle on 760 am each Sunday evening from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Earle's show is not recommended for high strung republicans. The mid-show surf set included the just released "Sin The Moon" by Shark Quest which Uncle Jeff described as "tripped out surf." A new Japan Cakes trak, "You Should Be Changing Everything," mixed melodic piano with steel guitar in a pleasing contrast that any political party could enjoy. The traks tonight delivered a tasty musical feast. My suggestion to you is to support these artists by attending live performances and purchasing their music. Ukulele Loki announced that Route 78 West will be hosting Tin Pan Americana at Boulder's Trilogy on October 21st. The show includes Halden Wofford & The High Beams plus Uncle Jeff and Ukulele Loki scratching and DJing on some old 78s. Stay tuned for more info. Jesse Sykes & the Sweet Hereafter will play at the Larimer Lounge on October 8th. |
