presentation included historical music commentary by Sidecar Slim. Sidecar's
happy, sparkling eyes gave indication of his delight as he added his knowledge
to the Western Swing sets. First up was "St. Louis Blues," the
first blues tune to be notated and written down by W.
C. Handy, followed by Milton Brown's theme song, "Brownie Special,"
which begins with the strangest train whistle I ever heard and had me thinkin'
about last week's train inspired playlist. In fact, I reminisced about train
riding hobos most of this past week and am inspired by their freedom based
philosophy. The show continued with several sets of seldom heard tunes by traditional country artists and came to an end featuring two current stars, Jolie Holland and Patterson Hood. The standout performance of this show was Milton Brown's, "St. Louis Blues," united with Sidecar Slim's musical analysis. I could just imagine what Uncle Jeff would of added to this show if he had been present. Guests tonight included Sidecar Slim, a genuine musician who played a mean ukulele, and our good friend DJ Danny. Thanks to you both for all the facts and trivia.
