Tonight's show was a throw-back to the days when the mood was loose. The
first half hour was crammed with great oldies with my favorite being Larry
Cassidy's, "Do Not Disturb." I enjoy the old timey selections
which have become a tradition in starting up a lot of the shows. Loki's
take on why these tune's don't get played on other country shows came down
to the short length of the songs... it's just too much work to play so many
two minute traks. Next was a nice set including a new favorite of Uncle Jeff's, "Chappaquiddick Skyline," which led up to the arrival of Halden Wofford & The High Beams. The band warmed up just outside the studio door and about 6 p.m. they began with a superb rendition of "Good Bye Joe." The sound and harmonies were right on. Halden Wofford had no problem doing "My Other Horse Is An Appaloosa" upon Uncle Jeff's request. A new tune, "The Hippie In My House," had great lyrics and is rumored to be on a future in-the-works CD. The evening continued with some great tunes by The Shadows and an Iron & Wine trak to remind listeners of their April 2rd performance at the Larimer Lounge. Thanks to Halden Wofford & The High Beams for performing in the studio tonight. See you next week. |
