Notes: | As
I was unpacking my equipment to get ready for tonight's show a spark of
electricity ran across my brain as Jeff walked over and shoved a Jimmy Reed
album down for me to see, "I tried to call you to remind you to find
some Jimmy Reed, but I guess you read my mind". I'm not all that familar
with Reed, but after the trak had played for a time I knew I was listening
to a sound that influenced the Blues genre. The walking bass line and vocals
of this artist are unmistakable. Needless to say the trak "Take Out
Some Insurance" is my top pick for this show. I'll add that you should
catch a PBS special which is currently running on Denver's channel 6. This
7 part Blues experience explains the details of how influential this genre
is on the music scene. This is important stuff to know and will have you
listening to music in a different way. Greg Brown will be playing at the Boulder Theater Friday, December 5, 8pm. |
