Notes:

Reveille Rock serenaded Uncle Jeff as he returned to the airwaves. He had just drove in from Nashville with an arm full of CDs. Jeff had randomized through North Carolina, Maryland, West Virginia, and Tennessee. He'd surfed at Cape Hatteras and spent the 4th with his square bearded Centerville brethren. As Jeff entered the studio it was clear he had a good trip. He was tan, relaxed and the crows feet were gone from his face. A sparkle in his eye told me he would have a lot to say during the show and Loki encouraged him to let those stories fly.

I was impressed with how Jeff had planned the show during a beeline from Nashville. New purchases of Wanda Jackson, Jack Scott and Burrito Deluxe mixed well with traks by Hot Tuna, Rodger Miller, Eddy Arnold, Hank Williams and Jimmie Rodgers. Jeff admitted he is still hooked on Gillian Welch, especially Look Out Miss Ohio, which he played for his young at heart Aunt who "runs around with the rag top down".

Jeff reminisced about his trip and admitted that there are cooler places than Boulder and he figures they're somewhere in western Maryland or West Virginia where the terrain is rough, steep and green, and the hollows hide mountain people who rarely need to leave their secluded cabins. During the road-trip Jeff searched the AM dial for local music but was disturbed to find that most of the small regional stations were gone.

As the end of hour one approached Jeff was fracturing... sleeping in roadside rest stops with the door lock poking his neck and the realization that a three week hiatus had terminated right back where he started likely prompted the rare live trak I Want to Destroy You from Uncle Tupelo's early acoustic phase.

Tunes by Buckskin Stallion and Burrito Deluxe gave a taste of the July 12th show by same at the Boulder Theatre. Performing July 24th and presented by Route 78 West is the ever popular Richmond Fontaine with Local33. This show is a must see and takes place at the Bluebird Theater, Denver 9:00 pm, 21+ Price: $9.00

Uncle Jeff's rock-a-billy theme brought back memories of past 1190 DJ Crazy Cooter and his popular "All Rock-A-Billy Show". Crazy Cooter had big greasey hair and really knew his stuff. It's rumored he is in the Vegas area.

A twist of Morriconism was played a tad late, but hit the spot, and led to the eerie erratic b-side This Time Around by Starflyer59. If you attended the recent show at the Bluebird by Starflyer59 drop us a line to let us know how it was.

The show wound down pretty fast and we all headed to Tom's Tavern for cold adult drinks, burgers and more stories of Uncle Jeff's road trip. Adios till next week.
