Notes: | After a few weeks of holiday
celebration and travel the Route 78 West crew was finally back to full force.
Jeff plopped down on the couch for a few seconds... I could tell he was
wired on a creative binge and ready to get the show underway. After some
"Happy New Years" and the hand shaking ritual... yada yada, we
stepped into the studio. The first trak, Tomorrow We Retire, was dedicated
to Uncle Jeff's friend and co-worker Wally. Shot Gun Boogie was a new one
from Proper Records'
Hillbilly Boogie Boxed Set. Seems that Uncle Jeff had got it as a xmas present
to himself. The set continued in a boogie-woogie vein till the first break. Medicine Hat by Jay Farrar brought the show back to the present era. The first dozen traks or so were selected by pure instinct as conversation flowed. Loki told of "amazing fire breathing" and "extreme shock entertainment" performed on New Years Eve in the land of Zion by the Crispy Family. Jeff passed around poster proofs and gave a local music scene update. Calexico's musical fiesta morphed into a surf set followed by a "Love Montage" including the ever popular, "The Look Of Love". Hey, no programmed rotations here! Uncle Jeff played "Tomorrow We Retire" an unprecedented second time. Wally is retiring... good riddins' Wally. Happy New Year too! Post Show dinner and cocktails at Tom's Tavern... sort of our office away from the office. |
